How to use Chinese apps
Most local services are untranslated, but they are built along the same lines — and that is what saves you.

The general logic
Almost everything requires a Chinese number and a linked payment method. Without them an app opens but does nothing.
Mini-programmes inside WeChat and Alipay often replace standalone apps — there is nothing to install.
A translation app with a camera reads the interface straight off the screen: faster than hunting for an English version.
Careful
Auto-renewing subscriptions are switched on by default more often here than you are used to. Check it straight after the first payment, not a month later.
Tip
A screenshot with the characters can be shown to any local — the fastest way to work out what an unfamiliar app wants from you.
